Independence Day 2017

Happy Independence Day!
We enjoyed a day of hosting friends and family followed by fireworks in the evening.
Between the Target dollar spot and Michaels I found most of the decor and will be able to reuse it for birthday parties and patriotic events in the future.
This was the first fourth of July that we’ve hosted at the house and I really enjoyed decorating and planning a menu for the day. We stuffed ourselves on BBQ beef, garden salad, baked beans, and cilantro black bean rice.
Sweets for the day included a patriotic angel food berry cake, cappuccino truffles, homemade strawberry and espresso ice cream.
The flags were handed out at a local fallen hero’s homecoming we attended. They are a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy on this holiday come at the highest cost.
I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday and has a great week!
